Your Parish Council is a local authority that makes some decisions on behalf of the people in the Parish. It is the tier of government closest to the community and is often the first place people will go with concerns or ideas about the village.
The Parish Council is responsible for the upkeep of some of the public green spaces around the village, including the Morton Pinfold, Fiskerton Village Green and the play area at the Arthur Radford Centre.
We organise community events throughout the year and have various resident groups who take ownership for working with the wider community to make our parish a place we are proud to call home.
Our local groups include Friends of the Village Green, Speeding Concerns Group and Flood Group.
I moved to Fiskerton in October 2022. I am now retired but worked in the public sector as the finance director for a district council and then as the treasurer for a police and crime commissioner. I was a parish councillor for 3 years in Derbyshire until moving here. So I have a lot of public sector experience.
I want to serve the residents of Fiskerton cum Morton so this small part of Nottinghamshire continues to be a wonderful place to live, work and visit.
I am a ‘doer’ and I like to give back to the community where I live. I am a Friend of the Green and act as its treasurer. I am also a member of Morton Fiskerton & Rolleston WI and currently serve as a committee member and its treasurer.
Website & Newsletter Lead Flood Warden
I arrived in the village in June 2021 with my husband Brian and wanted to get involved in village life. I soon found myself enrolled in the WI, Jubilee committee and running the flood group (how did that happen). I am an enthusiastic person who thrives when busy and I hope my project management experience will be of benefit to the village.
I also have created our website which I hope you all find useful.
I am a very artistic and creative person with a passion for interior design.
Sports & Gala Representative
I have been living in Morton with my husband Henry and my 3 teenage sons, for about 12 years. You will often see me walking the footpaths of Fiskerton and Morton with our Labrador, putting up posters for various events or enjoying a glass of wine and catch up at The Full Moon. I thoroughly enjoy volunteering on The Parish Council as we have a superb team alongside very active and enthusiastic residents. One of my aims is to improve communication within the villages and create a sense of belonging and pride in Fiskerton and Morton. I always appreciate people who offer to help and look after their surroundings and who are willing and able to ‘get stuck in’. I think we all appreciate how lucky we are to live in such a beautiful and friendly part of Nottinghamshire.
Planning, Environment & Wellbeing
Flood Warden
I live on Main Street, Fiskerton. I was part of the Neighbourhood Plan steering group a few years ago and the fund raising for the Fiskerton defibrillator. I enjoyed being involved and part of both these community efforts which then led to my interest in becoming a Parish Councillor in 2019. I regularly walk, run, wild swim and cycle in our local area so I’m very interested in the care and maintenance of our Parish and the surrounding environment.
Planning & Footpaths
I have lived in Morton for over twenty years and before I retired in 2019, I spent 15 years providing advice and training for parish councils across the county. I joined the parish council in 2016 and am keen to continue providing better facilities for our residents and increase community engagement.
